The Learning Network of Clinton County has received $28,935 grant from Susan G. Komen® Central Indiana for free mammograms and educational sessions to residents in the county.
The Learning Network of Clinton County in Frankfort, IN has received $28,935 grant from Komen Central Indiana to fund free mammograms and face to face breast educational sessions.
The Learning Network is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization serving Clinton County residents with educational opportunities and building a stronger community to improve the quality of life for all residents of this county.
These funds will be used to provide one on one bilingual educational sessions and 80 mammograms at no cost to uninsured or underserved women in the county. These educational sessions will reach out to almost 1,000 women in the county with important information about breast cancer and the early detection.
The coordinator for the Learning Network of Clinton County, Claudia Houchen emphasized the importance of this grant because all women should have access to regular mammograms to eliminate health breast disparities for those women without health insurance. We are very fortunate to work with Komen Central Indiana in collaboration with St. Vincent’s Frankfort Hospital, Open Door Clinic and the Community Health Workers in Clinton County. The greatest part of the money we received will assist community members in need. It goes to pay for services such as mammograms, diagnostics, patient navigation and education and it benefits local women.
