Online Dual Credit HS/College Purdue/IU Courses
Purdue University and Indiana University are collaborating to launch a repertoire of relevant university credit courses online to Indiana high schools, with a focus on serving rural schools. The two universities have worked together to offer a pilot program that will include six courses in Spring 2009, three from Purdue and three from Indiana University. Several of these courses are included in the Indiana Core Transfer Library (www.transferin.net/CTL/).
Many of the courses will provide university credit to either institution, and all courses will provide undistributed university credit (credit not yet applied to a specific degree program) to the originating institution. Students should investigate whether or not specific courses they take will count toward specific degree programs they are interested in at either institution. It is expected that many of the schools that host students in these courses will approve them as "dual credit." These courses will be offered at the Purdue Extension Learning Network where an on-site facilitator will be provided to assist the student in progressing through the course.
